Get dressed! Go to school! Do your homework! Clean up your room! Get a haircut! Don’t speak with your mouth full! – Once I am grown up, I thought, I won’t have any of this anymore. But of course I was wrong: I turned 60 and it sank in that I better get serious about my childhood promise.

That’s how I would like to paint: not to get dressed, stay away from school, don’t do my homework, leave my room in a mess, let my hair grow long and shaggy, and speak with a schnitzel hanging from my mouth. It’s hard work, but it’s worth the effort.

I paint like I drink beer on a hot day:
the first splash of paint in a white surface is like the extasy of the first gulp from a frosted glass. At the end my head spins and with every brush stroke the painting gets worse. Then I go to bed and sleep it off.

I prefer abstract or surrealistic themes: I can see vineyards and quails everyday from my living room, why should I paint them? In my architectural practice, things have to work and be affordable. When I paint I can be unreasonable.
